Just hours after the horrible tsunami „Gregor“ many member states of the European Union send their foreign ministers to the Council oft he European Union. Several ministers expressed their sympathy to the affected countries.
The tsunami waves destroyed big parts of Morocco, therefore the Morroccan delegate of the UN Security Council was invited. He described the terrible damages that his country experienced and possibilities to help. Sadly, some countries of the EU did not focus on offering help. Italys foreign minister for example was very concerned about the security at the African-European border and a new possible refugee stream from North Africa. The Hungarian foreign minister declared that Hungary would not be open for any refugees, based on the cultural diversity.
In a press release the French foreign minister announced that France stands side by side with the affected countries. He announced also that France, Germany, Japan, the UK and the USA are working together to help „as fast as possible“.
